Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in near Burgess Hill, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference within a supportive, structured and nurturing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with classroom learning and structured daily routines
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Encouraging engagement, independence and confidence in learning
  • Managing and responding to challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider support team

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (school or care background)
  • Confident supporting challenging behaviour (verbal and/or physical)
  • Patient, calm and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
