Job Description

We are looking for an Audit Manager - Public to join a growing public accounting team in Kansas. This role is suited for a CPA with a strong background in assurance work who can lead audit engagements, guide staff, and build trusted client relationships. The ideal candidate brings solid public accounting experience, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial and compliance audits.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct and oversee audit engagements from planning through final delivery, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely completion
  • Manage client relationships by serving as a key point of contact, addressing questions, and presenting audit findings clearly and effectively
  • Review financial statements, workpapers, and supporting documentation to confirm compliance with applicable accounting and audit standards
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff by assigning work, providing feedback, and supporting ongoing growth
  • Assess risk areas and design audit approaches that respond effectively to client operations, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate engagement timelines, budgets, and resources to maintain efficiency while meeting client service expectations
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on engagement strategy, issue resolution, and opportunities to strengthen assurance services
  • Support compliance-focused audit activities and help maintain consistent application of firm methodology and audit standards

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant designation required or on track for designation
  • At least 4 years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on audit and assurance services
  • Demonstrated success leading audit engagements and managing multiple priorities in a client-facing environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement auditing, risk assessment, and audit compliance standards
  • Experience reviewing workpapers and financial reporting for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to detailed guidelines
  • Proven ability to supervise staff, provide coaching, and maintain high-quality engagement performance
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams
