This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice. The role is ideal for an experienced Audit Senior looking to step up or an existing Assistant Manager seeking broader responsibility and exposure. You'll play a key role in overseeing audit engagements from planning through to completion, acting as the link between seniors and managers. Alongside delivering high-quality audits, you'll support the development of junior team members, manage client relationships, and contribute to the overall efficiency and commercial performance of the audit portfolio.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee audit engagements, reviewing work and resolving complex technical issues
  • Take ownership of a portfolio of non-complex audit clients, managing deadlines, budgets and resources
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships throughout the year
  • Lead audit planning, risk assessment and completion meetings
  • Review audit files and financial statements to ensure compliance with auditing standards and internal quality requirements
  • Identify changes in scope early, contributing to fee discussions and ad-hoc pricing proposals
  • Support managers and partners by providing clear updates on progress, risks and recovery
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, including performance feedback and development planning
  • Participate in recruitment and interview processes for junior hires
  • Attend audit committee or board meetings to present findings where required
  • Support internal and external quality reviews and follow-up actions

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • Strong audit experience gained within an accountancy practice environment
  • Confident reviewing audit work and financial statements
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritise workload effectively
  • Commercially aware, with exposure to WIP, budgeting and recovery
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence leading discussions with clients and internal stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work and supporting team development

What we offer

  • Competitive salary within a clearly defined progression framework
  • Full study support (where applicable)
  • Exposure to a varied audit portfolio and direct partner interaction
  • Structured development and clear career progression
  • Supportive team culture with a strong focus on quality and professional growth
