We are seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join our growing practice. This position is suitable for a proactive, technically strong accounting professional who enjoys client-facing work and leading a team. The role will involve managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing audit engagements, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, and delivering high-quality advisory services.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage statutory audits for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring engagements are completed on time, on budget and in accordance with professional standards
Prepare, review and finalise statutory accounts and financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
Plan and execute audit strategies, including risk assessment, audit scoping, testing and reporting
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards (FRS 102/SE/101 as applicable) and auditing standards
Provide technical accounting and advisory support to clients on matters such as year-end adjustments, accounting policies and regulatory requirements
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned clients
Coach, mentor and develop junior team members, supporting their training and performance reviews
Manage workflows, delegate tasks effectively and ensure quality control across engagements
Contribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities to expand services with existing clients
Support the firm’s continuous improvement initiatives, including adoption of digital tools and more efficient ways of working
Requirements:
Qualified auditor/accountant (CA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with substantial experience in audit and accounts
Proven experience managing audits and preparing statutory accounts for a range of client sizes and sectors
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards is a bonus
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
Confident client communicator with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly
Experience supervising and developing junior staff, with a positive, supportive leadership style
Commercially minded and proactive in identifying opportunities to add value to clients
Comfortable working with cloud accounting software and standard office applications (including Microsoft Excel)
Committed to high professional standards, integrity and confidentiality
Fully qualified auditor/accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
Extensive audit experience and demonstrable track record of managing audit engagements
Proficient with accounting software and cloud platforms
strong Microsoft Excel skills
Knowledge of UK tax compliance relevant to client accounts preparation is advantageous
