Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for an Associate/ Mid Audio Programmer to join the development of a new IP. Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining. As a member of the Engine & Tools department, you’ll help design interactive audio systems, create tools, pipelines, and optimize performance for our game. You’ll craft a unique soundscape. Shaping from an early stage all the way to the release, taking true ownership of core parts of the game's sonic layer. As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better; with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Working with sound designers to define the interactive audio systems needed to create the soundscape for game features
Helping designing efficient tools and pipelines that enable the sound design team to populate the game with content and author a dynamic soundscape
As part of the engine team, providing clear APIs that allow other engineering teams to integrate and interact with audio systems while ensuring performance and scalability
Monitoring and managing the low-level behavior of audio systems, ensuring they stay within CPU, RAM, and streaming budgets
Contributing proactively and independently as part of a collaborative team
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience working on game engine code, ideally with experience with audio systems and middleware
Strong knowledge of C++ and performance-sensitive design
Ability to balance design simplicity with optimization requirements
Strong communication skills, including collaboration with non-technical team members
Understanding of workflow challenges faced by designers, and a willingness to collaborate on solutions to address them
Able to work independently while contributing as an engaged and collaborative member of the team
Proactive approach to problem-solving, with a positive and respectful team-focused attitude
Interest in working closely with artists and collaborating on audio-related systems
Openness to self-reflection and receiving feedback from others
Interest in and understanding of modern video games and player experiences
Nice to have:
Knowledge of audio systems or middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD, or similar tools)
Experience working with the engine codebase of more than one game engine
Experience contributing to the shipment of a AAA commercial game title
