Job Description:

Excellent opportunity with a midsize client-centric law firm dedicated to excellence. The firm has several different practice areas and has a headcount of about 85 people altogether. Their Trusts & Estates team in Garden City is growing and are looking to hire an Attorney to their team! The firm has a congenial atmosphere. The folks who are here, they have been here for years. We’re very interested in bringing in new attorneys and paralegals. It’s an open and friendly environment. (The nature of the work is very interactive with the clients. Paper-intensive department). Billables: 1800.

Job Responsibility:

  • Draft estate plan documents such as Wills, Grantor Trusts, revocable and irrevocable trusts, QPRTs. CRUTs/CRATs, and ILITS
  • Handle all facets of estate administration including preparing and filing probate and administration petitions, preparing and filing estate tax returns, managing estate accounts, estate distribution, will contests, accountings and miscellaneous proceedings
  • Meet and interview clients for estate plans and supervise will executions
  • Advise and assist trustees, trust and estate beneficiaries and personal representatives in probate administration, trust administration and disputes in connections with estate and trust administration
  • Research complex estate and gift tax issues

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed attorney admitted to practice in New York
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Trusts & Estates law, with preference for candidates with 3-5 years of experience
  • Proven expertise in preparing estate tax returns and handling matters related to estate planning and administration
  • Strong knowledge of estate and gift tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
