Robert Half is seeking an attorney that will support a law firm by working with local government entities, drafting and reviewing contracts, and attending city council meetings. The position offers a flexible schedule, allowing for remote work with occasional in-office requirements on a part-time (up to 30 hours) basis.
Job Responsibility:
Draft, review, and revise contracts for local government entities, including city, county, and school boards
Conduct legal research to support case preparation and provide informed legal advice
Attend city council meetings in the evenings, approximately three to four times per month
Handle labor and employment law matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
Provide guidance on open records requests and related legal procedures
Collaborate with stakeholders to address legal concerns and negotiate agreements
Redline and edit legal documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting local government operations
Manage and prioritize a workload of 20-30 hours per week with flexible scheduling
Requirements:
Proven experience in local government law, including city, county, or school board legal matters
Strong knowledge of government contracting processes and requirements
Expertise in labor and employment law, with a focus on compliance and dispute resolution
Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analyze complex legal issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders
Availability to attend evening meetings as needed
Licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia
Nice to have:
Familiarity with open records laws and procedures is preferred
