Job Responsibility:
Represent clients in civil defense and insurance-related litigation, ensuring their interests are effectively protected
Conduct thorough legal research using platforms like Westlaw to support case strategies and arguments
Draft and review legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery requests, with accuracy and attention to detail
Interpret and apply the California Code of Civil Procedure and federal rules to litigation processes
Manage case files efficiently, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
Provide clear and precise communication with clients, courts, and colleagues
Prepare for and participate in hearings, depositions, and trials as needed
Stay updated on changes in state and federal laws relevant to civil defense and insurance litigation
Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for complex legal cases
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of litigation experience, preferably in civil defense
Proficiency in legal research tools, particularly Westlaw
Strong understanding of the California Code of Civil Procedure and federal court rules
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Proven track record of handling complex litigation cases
High level of professionalism and ability to work collaboratively within a team
