We are looking for an Attorney to join our plaintiff-side litigation team in Alton, Illinois. This role focuses on asbestos and mesothelioma matters, offering the opportunity to handle significant cases that make a meaningful difference for affected individuals and families. The attorney will manage cases from initial evaluation through resolution while working alongside experienced legal and support professionals in a collaborative, deadline-driven practice.
Job Responsibility
Oversee a caseload of plaintiff asbestos and mesothelioma matters from intake through settlement, trial, or other resolution
Meet with clients to gather case facts, assess exposure histories, and provide consistent updates throughout the litigation process
Prepare and file legal documents such as complaints, motions, pleadings, and written discovery responses
Direct all phases of discovery, including reviewing medical documentation, developing factual records, and coordinating document production
Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and other relevant individuals to support case strategy
Partner with expert witnesses and internal legal staff to strengthen claims and prepare matters for trial
Contribute to settlement discussions and case valuation efforts through analysis of liability, damages, and supporting evidence
Work closely with paralegals, investigators, and support teams to manage deadlines and maintain progress across a high-volume docket
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience handling plaintiff asbestos litigation matters
Active license to practice law and ability to perform attorney duties in a litigation environment
Strong background in civil litigation, including motion practice, briefing, and discovery management
Demonstrated ability to draft clear and persuasive legal filings and case-related documentation
Experience managing complex matters with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Effective deposition, client communication, and case development skills
Ability to collaborate productively with legal support staff and multidisciplinary case teams
