Job Description:

In this role, you will provide legal advice as needed for day-to-day business operations, engage and act as a liaison to outside counsel as required, as support the company's litigation efforts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements and documents, including owner contracts, subcontracts, settlement agreements, company policies and procedures, employment agreements, and other legal documents
  • Performing legal research and offering legal advice to project teams regarding relevant laws and regulations affecting the company business in order to inform business decisions and mitigate risk
  • Reviewing, drafting, and editing correspondence with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and other third parties
  • Coordinating with outside counsel to assist the company in the preparation, pursuit, and defense of claims in arbitration, mediation, litigation, investigations and other matters
  • Coordinating and managing responses to document discovery and to other document requests, reviewing documents and preparing them to be produced in accordance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and four years of experience in the practice of law required
  • Current Alabama Bar Law license required
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft software – Excel, Microsoft Word and Access
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to perform legal research and have the skills of a licensed lawyer

Nice to have:

  • Undergraduate courses with a focus on construction or engineering preferred
  • Experience in construction, contract, and/or employment law, also preferred
