Job Description:

Our client, a well-established law firm based in San Jose, is seeking a contract-to-hire Attorney to join their dynamic team. The firm handles a broad array of civil litigation defense matters, offering the opportunity to work with experienced attorneys on complex legal issues across diverse industries.

Job Responsibility:

Manage a diverse civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including conducting legal research, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
Develop case strategies and provide legal counsel to individual and corporate clients
Draft pleadings, motions, and correspondence
attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences as required
Work collaboratively with firm attorneys and staff in a fast-paced, collegial environment
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on relevant statutes, case law, and local rules in California

Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California
Minimum two (2) years of California-based civil litigation experience, preferably with a focus on defense matters
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
demonstrated ability to manage caseload independently and effectively
Excellent organizational, negotiation, and client communication skills
Proficient in law office technology, case management systems, and legal research tools
Availability to work a hybrid schedule with regular on-site presence required in the firm's San Jose
