Robert Half is partnering with an established, midsize commercial and employment litigation team located in downtown Los Angeles looking for an attorney with a great educational background and commercial/employment defense experience to join the team. This firm is looking for an attorney with at least one year of experience in civil litigation handling commercial litigation and employment defense matters to join the team. This is a well-respected, midsized law firm in Los Angeles, California. This onsite role offers the opportunity to build a strong foundation in employment litigation while gaining exposure to additional practice areas over time based on interest and performance. The position is designed for a lawyer who values close collaboration, practical mentorship, and a long-term path toward greater responsibility within the firm.
Job Responsibility:
Manage employment litigation matters with increasing ownership, beginning with close guidance from senior attorneys and progressing toward independent case handling
Prepare persuasive legal documents, including motions, briefs, pleadings, and other filings required throughout the life of a case
Conduct discovery activities such as drafting written discovery, reviewing responses, organizing evidence, and supporting overall case strategy
Partner with experienced attorneys and a designated mentor to strengthen legal analysis, client communication, and courtroom readiness
Participate in client meetings, strategy discussions, and case-related calls to develop trusted advisory relationships
Support matters involving California and federal employment and labor law, with opportunities to contribute to additional practice areas as experience grows
Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and advance matters efficiently from initial intake through resolution
Work primarily from the Los Angeles, California office, with the possibility of limited remote flexibility after an initial onsite period based on business needs
Requirements:
Active license to practice law and ability to work as an attorney in good standing
At least 1 year of experience in civil litigation, with a strong preference for commercial and employment litigation on the employer side
Demonstrated ability to draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation documents with a high level of accuracy
Working knowledge of discovery practice, including preparing requests, evaluating responses, and managing supporting materials
Familiarity with California employment law, federal employment law, and related labor law issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel
Ability to work effectively in a fully onsite environment in Los Angeles, California during the initial phase of employment
