12 month Fellowship position. Direct patient contact for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent within the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the NATA BOC and State of applicable state Athletic Training Licensure.
Job Responsibility:
Direct patient contact for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology
Performs appropriate medical history on each patient seen
Performs appropriate physical exam on each patient seen
Orders diagnostic studies or other referrals under the direction of the supervising physician
Provides and determines appropriate rehabilitation/therapy exercises
Performs therapeutic procedures such as would care, dressing changes, suture removal, and cast application and removal
Determines best use/application of Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
Removes sutures and provides dressing changes to post-surgical patients
Aids the physician in preparing and administering injections
Aids the physician and support staff in preparation of the patient and surgical suite for surgeries
Communicates and educates patient's possible or current plan of care
Administers concussion testing and education
Performs other related clinical duties and administrative duties required by physician
Expected to demonstrate operating room skills such as prepping and draping, sterilization techniques and knowledge of surgical instruments
Provides athletic training services to high school, college, and/or community sporting events
Provides on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate care procedures of illness and injury
Performs clinical injury evaluation and assessment
Determines appropriate therapeutic treatment and provides rehabilitation
Implements treatment program objectives
Collaborates with their directing physician, recommends discontinuation of the athletic training service
Determines return to play standards of injuries for athletes and the active population
Performs baseline concussion testing and additional testing if a concussion is sustained or suspected
Maintains daily records of treatment logs, injury reports, doctor's referrals, DCR, and medical inventory management
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Coordinates and instructs strength, conditioning, fitness, and sports performance enhancement programs
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field, Master's preferred
Experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer varies with each level (preferred)
Current BOC certification in good standing
Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the State of applicable state (or eligible)
Completion of American Heart Association Healthcare Provider, which includes CPR and AED training
Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
