We have an exciting opportunity for a Astromaterials Curation Processor to join the team with McLaurin Aerospace, a teammate company.
Job Responsibility:
Work in an Astromaterials Curation facility housing unique and protected planetary samples
Maintain accurate records of astromaterials sample data, documentation, procedures, and databases
Handle rocks and fine-grained materials in compliance with established procedures at all times for scientific allocation, cataloging, and long-term preservation. Responsibilities include tool preparation, sample transfers, cutting or chipping, subdividing and separating, basic characterization, imaging, and weighing
Support routine labeling, inventory management, and organization of astromaterials samples, ensuring accurate tracking of sample movement throughout the Curation workflow in relevant databases
Prepare astromaterials samples for a variety of geologic analyses
Assist visiting Principal Investigators and support guided tours of Curation laboratories
Contribute to general laboratory maintenance and perform additional tasks as required
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 2 years of professional experience
Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and maintain compliance
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
Demonstrated strength in task planning and organization to ensure successful delivery
Strong data stewardship skills to accurately capture, document, and maintain records to ensure long-term accessibility
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
Nice to have:
Project management training and/or experience
Experience working with and/or studying extraterrestrial samples, particularly Apollo or meteorite samples
Experience working in a cleanroom and/or familiarity with ISO 6-7 cleanroom environments and standards
Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, and Smartsheet or other task/project management tool
