Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Assurance Specialist to lead the development and implementation of a new Assurance Framework within a dynamic Commonwealth agency. This role is critical in enhancing grants management processes and ensuring organisational alignment with legislative and policy requirements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Leading the development of the assurance framework, including principles, policies, and guidance materials
  • Providing expert guidance on assurance approaches, maturity, and the effectiveness of controls
  • Strengthening grants management processes at the award activity level and identifying gaps or trends through complex data analysis
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including auditors and governance committees to embed consistent practices
  • Preparing high-quality briefing materials and reports regarding assurance outcomes and risks

Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Must undergo an ID verification check and a Police Check
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing assurance, governance, or risk management frameworks within Commonwealth agencies
  • Strong awareness of the PGPA Act, Commonwealth Grant Rules and Principles, and general APS governance requirements
  • Proven capacity to interpret complex information and form sound judgements on control effectiveness
  • Exceptional writing skills to produce persuasive assurance documents and the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to design practical and scalable assurance tools that deliver impactful outcomes

Nice to have:

Qualifications in assurance, risk management, governance, auditing or a related field are desirable
