Airbnb Capability Center (formerly known as Airseva) was set up in 2017 in Gurgaon. We provide specialized operational services which allow Airbnb's business and responsibilities across the world. These include Finance Technology, Finance Shared Services, Analytics, Engineering, amongst other verticals. As a Finance Team Member, The Direct Tax Associate will have broad exposure to various financial systems and processes and will support critical goals and deadlines.

Job Responsibility:

  • Working with local tax service providers and/or internal teams to compile direct tax (corporate tax) compliance data files from our financial reporting systems, responding to queries and reviewing direct tax filings for accuracy and looking for opportunities to standardise the workpapers across regions
  • Working with local service providers and/or internal teams to prepare and review Digital Services Tax (DST) compliance data files in line with BEPS Pillar 2 effort and looking for opportunities for automation and operationalisation of any new / proposed DST
  • Sending and tracking wires to international jurisdictions for periodic direct tax and digital services tax payments (advance payments and balancing payments) and working with advisors and tax authorities on achieving efficiency exploring payment routes
  • Preparation of tax provisions to ensure the financial statements accurately reflect the accounting for corporate income taxes, deferred taxes, and digital services taxes and making qualitative utilisation of advisors comments / assistance
  • Reconciliation of direct tax and digital services tax collection and payments
  • Providing audit support by compiling data files and providing summaries for direct taxes and exploring ways to pre-work by pre-empting possible questions for swift and quality submissions with tax authorities
  • Receiving requests for reports from jurisdictions, responding to requests, and providing reports
  • Completing ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Identifying, designing and implementing process improvements using automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to further enhance tax compliances and seeking opportunities to move compliances in-house

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in tax, accounting or related finance field (CPA or an advanced degree in tax is highly desirable)
  • Working knowledge of automation tools such as alteryx, macros, python etc. and access to AI tools
  • Technical knowledge on APAC, EMEA and LATAM tax compliances is recommended
  • Strong organization skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Analytical and has a strong excel/spreadsheet background
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all essential duties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results driven
  • Proven ability to succeed in both collaborative and independent work environments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
