As a Property Underwriting Associate, you will assess risk, structure policies, collaborate with internal and external partners, and manage a portfolio of business. Job Responsibility

  • Risk Assessment: Analyze new and renewal submissions to determine risk acceptability, coverage terms, and pricing
  • Underwriting Decisions: Make informed underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite
  • Portfolio Management: Maintain a profitable book of business by balancing growth and risk selection
  • Broker Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to drive new business opportunities
  • Policy Development: Draft and modify policy terms and endorsements to tailor coverage to specific risks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with loss control, claims, actuarial, and legal teams to assess and manage risk
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of underwriting decisions and communications

Requirements

  • Interest in Insurance, underwriting, market trends or pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Risk Management)
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite
