Job Overview: The Associate Project Engineer utilizes existing Project Engineering procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Project Engineering and Engineering.
Job Responsibility:
Familiarize with the Company procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and standards across engineering disciplines for work to be performed and asked guidance where required
Manage an engineering scope of a project under the supervision of the Project Engineering Manager
Establishes and implements project procedures to ensure deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements in accordance with contract documents
Manage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the project
Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
Clearly communicate information, asking questions, and checking for understanding
Is typically assigned responsibility for a specific part of the work or a specific function in support of the Project Engineering Manager
Practice and promote Safety in designs and McDermott work processes
Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
Read and understand the requirements of Engineering in the contract documents
Provide direction to and coordinate with the Engineering and Design Leads on an assigned project
Reinforce and implement the Project Execution Plan
Work with the Project Engineering Manager to promote an understanding of project requirements
Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines
Document discussions and decisions related to the design
Assist with preparation of responses to RFI's and other correspondence
Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control in areas of responsibility
Manage change effectively and proactively
Review work with clients, management, and project leads
Identify problems and coordinate with the engineering team to correct
Assist with orderly hand over and archiving of the completed project
Input to closeout report
Ensure Lessons Learned are documented
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Engineering
2-5 years of experience in project execution
1-2 years of experience in a Discipline Lead role
Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of professional engineering society as applicable
Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards, replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays, provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable, managing/learning of future current working methods and software applications
Demonstrate a broad technical knowledge of detailed design engineering codes and standards
Familiar with detailed engineering and design work procedures and processes
Able to read and understand contractual documentation
Able to effectively communicate with and lead engineers and non-engineers
