  • Lead the development of innovative research and education programs that support climate‑resilient, low‑emissions engineering, driving new approaches to natural‑hazard resilience and zero‑emissions design
  • Help guide the School’s strategic direction and influence the next generation of engineers
  • Lead the design and delivery of systems, products and infrastructure that reduce emissions, minimise environmental harm and strengthen resilience for communities adapting to a changing climate
  • Work across areas such as renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure and low‑emissions technologies
  • Shape and influence engineering solutions that are practical, future‑focused and grounded in real‑world needs.

Requirements:

  • An established and ongoing record of internationally recognised research, demonstrating innovative and sustained contributions to climate‑focused Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, supported by a strong publication profile, conference presentations, and success in securing external competitive and industry funding
  • A proven history of effective supervision and completion of research higher degree candidates
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated excellence in university‑level teaching and learning
  • A strong track record of academic leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive collaborations across local, national and international academic, professional, industry and community networks
  • Sound understanding of the commercial and financial dimensions of professional engineering, including the value of research translation and the application of new knowledge in industry
  • An accredited degree allowing entry to practice in professional engineering, awarded in Australia or confirmed as equivalent under the Washington Accord
  • A PhD in either Civil Engineering (Structural, Geotechnical, or Water Resources), Mechanical Engineering (Design, Manufacturing, or Thermo-Fluids), or Electrical Engineering (Power Systems, Electronics, or Control Systems), or a closely related field
  • Membership in Engineers Australia and Chartered Professional Engineering status (CPEng) or confirmed eligibility
  • To be eligible for this position, you are required to hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa that enables you to fulfil the requirements of this role.
