Product Engineering 2 job supports the merchandising team in the development, validation, and launch of both new and existing product lines.
Job Responsibility:
Work on multiple concurrent engineering projects, contributing technical expertise to support the development, validation, and launch of new product lines and line extensions, including components, hardware, and fabrication tooling
Plan and coordinate engineering activities in alignment with divisional priorities, collaborating with cross-functional product development teams to leverage organizational expertise and ensure successful project execution for component design, materials R&D, and improvements to fabrication tools, methods, and processes
Support prototype builds and trial runs to evaluate product performance, manufacturability, and cost feasibility
Coordinate product testing activities in partnership with the research and development team. Analyze, interpret, and communicate test results from internal and external laboratories, translating technical data into actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders
Develop and maintain product SOPs, specifications, and configuration guidelines to support system readiness, order entry, and production, including charts, components, BOMs, and system prompts
Create and maintain engineering documentation, including exploded views, part drawings, specification sheets, and quick reference guides for internal teams, customer care, and installers
Configure, validate, and maintain products within e-PIC, and Polaris, including BOM setup, usage definitions, front-end configuration, and production screen validation
Develop and execute validation and testing plans for new products, components, and materials, including pre-production testing, DV1/LV1, PPAP coordination, and first article or pilot approvals
Coordinate product lifecycle activities, including phase-in/phase-out of components, forecasting support, and material planning in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments to promote collaboration, alignment, and effective execution of merchandising and business objectives
Requirements:
Solid knowledge of mechanical, industrial, wood, and electrical engineering principles
Demonstrated experience with extrusion, metal die casting, and injection molding manufacturing processes
Proficient in standard business and engineering software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documentation, business justifications, and budget proposals
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Proven ability to analyze and synthesize complex information from multiple sources
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required
Prior experience in engineering project management is strongly preferred
