The School of Public Service in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applicants for an associate or full professor position in planning for healthy and resilient communities. The position begins July 25, 2026. This position is part of an interdisciplinary cluster on community health and resilience. The faculty member is expected to partner with cluster faculty and others in their work. The School of Public Service houses a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, a doctoral program in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public procurement and contract management, and a minor in public service.
Job Responsibility:
Contribute to the School’s research and educational programs
Have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring doctoral students
Perform research and teaching that make a contribution to the School’s academic programs
Partner with cluster faculty and others in their work
Requirements:
Ph.D. degree in Public Administration or related field
Clearly defined and well-established research record and agenda in a planning-related area
Research track record sufficient to ensure graduate certification status to teach in the doctoral program
Ability to teach courses in the MPA and PhD in Public Administration and Policy programs
Demonstrated record of community engagement

Expressed research interest in some aspect of multi-sector partnerships and/or multi-sector public service, including but not limited to contracting, public-private partnerships, cross-sector collaborations, community engagement, and social entrepreneurship
