The Category Leadership Associate Manager, reporting to the Manager Category Leadership, supports the Foodservice Sales organization by providing category expertise, strategic insight, and actionable analysis that drives growth internally and externally. This role interprets industry trends and category data insights to provide strategy and tool recommendations that improve distribution and sales performance. The role leads through influence and partnership with Sales, Marketing, Innovation, Insights, and Portfolio Management, combining analytical rigor with strong storytelling to enable confident commercial decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Actively stay abreast of industry trends to provide relevant targets and goals
Gather, analyze, and synthesize category, distributor, and market data into actionable insights for internal and external partners
Support internal sales teams and external customers, and as needed participate in customer calls and meetings, through development of monthly reporting and dashboards, creation of business reviews/joint business planning initiatives, development of assortment analysis and product mix performance, and other requests as needed to deliver against commercial objectives
Stay closely connected to key sales and customer partners through regular meetings and working sessions, ensuring category insights, analyses, and tools are delivered in support of agreed-upon needs and requests
Proactively surface insights, risks, and opportunities based on ongoing category and competitive performance tracking to Marketing and Sales leadership
Identify where category growth is occurring, which segments and products are driving performance, competitive gaps to ROM, and where whitespace or share-gain opportunities exist to support execution of Marketing, Innovation, and Sales objectives
Collaborate with Marketing and Portfolio Management to inform go-to-market strategies, portfolio mix decisions, and innovation planning and execution
Maintain data governance across category- and customer-level data sources by using approved tools, definitions, and processes, and partnering with external data providers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and appropriate application in Sales and Marketing use cases
Develop and maintain recurring data reports and dashboards
execute ad hoc reporting using internal sales data, syndicated consumption data, and shipment metrics.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
5-7 years of related industry experience or a related combination of education and experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
In-depth expertise in the use and applications of a variety of technologies and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Scorecard development, Look Ups, advanced Formulas) and industry related data sources (NPD Supply & Potato Tracks, Spectra, Technomic, Datessentials, Firefly)
Up to 15% travel
