Birkbeck, University of London, is looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach this Summer term 2026. Joining the School of Psychological Studies, you would teach on the module SCPS169H4 Research Methods in Practice, Level 4. The module builds on and advances the understanding and knowledge students gained on the ‘Understanding Research methods for psychology’ module. The focus is on a deeper understanding of the challenges of the research process including ethical considerations and the strengths and weaknesses of each approach. The module will build on students understanding of research design and understanding of data collection and statistical analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver teaching to Birkbeck students to enable them to complete their studies successfully
Undertake all related course administrative duties
Preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of the Research Methods in Practice module
Work closely with the programme director to organise, deliver and assess the module
Requirements:
A degree in Psychology
Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector
A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm
Experience of (or willingness to develop) a wide range of teaching and assessment methods
