Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Associate Lecturer to join the teaching team and support the School of Psychological Sciences this Autumn 2026. We have an opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to support the teaching team in: R for Reproducible Psychological Research, Level 6. Up to 42 hours of teaching (either 24 hours or 18 hours). 14 sessions on Tuesday afternoons 2-5pm and/or evenings 6-9pm Autumn term. Your role will be to deliver teaching to Birkbeck students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully and undertake all related course administrative duties as required, including marking. Your main responsibility will be in the preparation, teaching, administration and assessment for the R for Reproducible Psychological Research module, which is a Level 6 option module offered as part of our BPS accredited BSc Psychology programme. The module will be led by Professor Marie Smith, and you will assist with its delivery. The module offers an introduction to the R coding language and its use in Psychological Sciences, in particular it will include all aspects of data wrangling (e.g. data input, data manipulation), data visualisation and the ggplot package, the basics of coding including conditional statements, logical operations and loops. The module will also include the dyplr package for data manipulation, and basic statistical analysis. A large focus of the module is reproducible science and students will also be introduced to rmarkdown for report writing.

Requirements
A degree in Psychology or related area
Pursuing or completed a postgraduate degree in Psychology or related area
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the topic area (R coding and its application within Psychological sciences)
Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector
A good understanding of the needs of full and part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm
