We are looking for Associate Lecturers in Contextual and Theoretical Studies in the Design School to deliver teaching and assessment of units across all undergraduate courses.
Job Responsibility:
Preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of Contextual and Theoretical Studies units
Approach to teaching will challenge the canon of visual culture and design studies with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity
Convening weekly workshops and seminars
Offering tutorial support
Undertaking both formative and summative assessment at Level 4 and 5
Working independently and as part of a team to deliver weekly sessions
Responsible for students’ academic and pastoral support, maintaining an overview of their progress and attendance, and liaising with colleagues as appropriate
Working closely with other academic staff, including the CTS Coordinators and CTS Leader
Participating in regular team meetings, benchmarking and moderation sessions to ensure appropriate academic standards are met
Requirements:
Background in visual culture, design history, design studies, art history, architectural history, cultural studies or associated field
Committed to undergraduate teaching
Interested in exploring the relationship between theory and practice in design
Research interests and expertise may relate to areas such as branding and consumer culture, digital technologies and media studies, decolonisation, global visual cultures and representation, creative and cultural industries, graphic design history and theory
