We are looking for an experienced legal leader to join a growing environmental services organization in Austin, Texas. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing practical counsel on commercial matters, regulatory obligations, and enterprise risk. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with operations and executive stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-moving setting while helping shape a strong legal foundation for continued growth.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide variety of agreements, including customer, vendor, municipal, transportation, financing, confidentiality, employment, and technology contracts.
Counsel internal teams on compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
Support acquisitions and strategic transactions by coordinating legal due diligence, assisting with deal execution, and advising on integration-related matters after closing.
Help maintain corporate governance standards by contributing to policy creation, compliance initiatives, and internal legal processes.
Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional partners to evaluate legal exposure and recommend practical solutions aligned with business objectives.
Serve as a legal representative in communications with regulatory bodies, external stakeholders, and relevant industry groups when needed.
Track changes in laws and regulations that may affect the business and translate those developments into actionable guidance for internal teams.
Oversee outside counsel engagements to ensure effective legal support, strong outcomes, and responsible management of legal spend.
Contribute to broader risk management efforts involving employment matters, insurance, real estate, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and dispute-related issues.
Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in Texas.
At least 10 years of legal experience, with substantial exposure to commercial contracting and corporate law matters.
Demonstrated experience advising businesses in industrial, environmental, services, or similarly regulated operating environments.
Strong capability in contract negotiation, legal analysis, and clear communication with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
Working knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management.
Ability to succeed in a high-growth, fast-paced organization where priorities may shift quickly.
Nice to have:
Experience with municipal agreements, in-house legal teams, or top-tier law firm practice is highly valued.
Background in recycling, waste management, or environmental services is preferred.
