Job Description

As Associate General Counsel, you will be a key legal partner helping OnePay scale its financial services platform and partnerships. You will play a critical role in structuring, negotiating, and managing complex commercial relationships that power our business, while helping shape the systems, practices, and team that enable us to grow responsibly. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of law, finance, and technology.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead payments related transactions. Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial and strategic agreements, with a strong focus on payments and payment networks
  • Support digital wallet and crypto adjacent initiatives. Advise and execute on initiatives involving digital wallets and emerging rails
  • Navigate data ownership, sharing, and governance. Be an agile and informed partner for data questions that arise in commercial deals
  • Embed with the business. Partner closely with teams across Product, Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Corporate Development, and Operations to proactively identify legal risks and design pragmatic, business-aligned solutions
  • Operate effectively in a complex, high intensity environment. Help triage, prioritize, and unblock work in a fast-moving environment where inputs may be incomplete and timelines tight
  • Help the legal function scale with AI and better systems. Contribute to building light-weight, stage-appropriate, scalable legal processes, templates, playbooks, and policies

Requirements

  • J.D. and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar
  • 10+ years of experience practicing corporate and commercial law, including at a leading law firm and in-house at a fintech, payments company, or financial services business
  • Significant experience with payments and payment network ecosystems, including processor partnerships and agreements involving counterparties such as Mastercard, Visa, Marqeta, Checkout, or similar participants
  • Experience advising on digital wallet products or partnerships, and comfort engaging on crypto and stablecoin adjacent topics from a commercial and risk perspective
  • Strong working knowledge of data rights and governance in commercial deals, including ownership, sharing, DPAs, security terms, and operational implementation
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and project management skills with a strong eye for detail
  • A practical, business-first mindset with the ability to weigh legal risk in the context of product, operational, and commercial realities
  • Clear, concise communication skills across technical and non-legal audiences, with the ability to influence decision-making at multiple levels
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Low ego, high ownership, and strong collaborative instincts. No task is too big or too small
