  • Partner with the project management team and the client to translate requirements into clear technical work items and acceptance criteria
  • Plan team capacity, identify resourcing needs, delegate effectively, and unblock the team
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, including scope creep, dependencies, technical debt, and performance bottlenecks
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards, including Git workflows, PR practices, branching strategy, release checklists, documentation, and post-mortems
  • Track and improve delivery and quality metrics, including PR throughput, self-testing, defect rates, and bug-fix ratios
  • Coordinate with QA to improve test coverage, release stability, and incident follow-ups
  • Provide technical leadership across storefront UI (HTML/CSS/JS) and Shopify theme (Liquid) integrations
  • Optimize performance, including Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, image strategy, and critical CSS
  • Coach and support developers through 1:1s, feedback, growth plans, onboarding, and hiring support as needed
  • Demonstrate the ability to recruit, onboard, and manage technical teams, including performance management
  • Maintain team discipline by monitoring progress updates, working hours, and project tracking tools

Requirements

  • 5 - 11 years of experience leading an 8+ member engineering team, including senior developers and tech leads, with delivery responsibility
  • Delivery fundamentals, including estimation, sprint planning, dependency tracking, and stakeholder updates
  • Clear stakeholder communication, including expectation setting and progress reporting
  • Strong engineering practices: Git workflows, code reviews, and high-quality PR hygiene
  • Strong eCommerce engineering experience with at least one platform (Shopify, Adobe Commerce, Big Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or similar)
  • Strong front-end skills: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, responsive UI development, and debugging
  • Performance optimization experience, including Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse, image strategy, and critical CSS
  • Good understanding of design tools such as Figma or XD, and the ability to convert designs into clear, actionable technical tasks

Nice to have

  • Ability to deliver Shopify projects and work with Liquid (themes, sections, metafields)
  • Shopify app and integration experience, including Admin and Storefront APIs, webhooks, and third-party app ecosystems
  • Headless experience (Hydrogen and Remix) and familiarity with React
  • Release management exposure, including security and stability best practices
  • Experience working in a services environment with multiple clients and shifting priorities
  • Proven growth journey from lead to manager role in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of eCommerce ecosystem tools such as WMS, OMS, ERP, logistics partner integrations, vendor management systems, and CRM
