Work in coordination with the Director of Catering Sales Management in overseeing the sales department and working with clients to provide exceptional service for clients. Maintain professional rapport with vendors, clients, and other departments. Work in securing new and returning business for the convention center. Training new employees.
Job Responsibility:
Participate in ongoing development of sales budgets and strategies to uncover new business
Work with other departments within the food and beverage division to create menus and source specific show needs for the clients
Manage larger scale shows and manage sales staff to ensure quality of service and to provide guidance to the sales team
Draft written proposals, conduct sales presentations, negotiate price points and draft contract language
Arrange for facility site visits and/or travel off-site to meet clients & observe their events if needed
Establish personal rapport with new clients and maintain relationships with repeat clients’ corporations and show organizers to utilize the Moscone Center for shows & special events
Draft written proposals, conduct sales presentations, negotiate price points and draft contract language. Draft tasting menus and costing for clients.
Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction to current and potential clients at all times
Train and mentor sales staff
Other duties and projects as assigned or directed
Reconcile outstanding payments with client after shows
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience, including 3 years specifically related to the event or hospitality industry
Solid experience with solicitation, account management and financial reporting is essential
Excellent telephone, presentation, written & verbal communication skills
Ability to negotiate, be creative, organize information and demonstrate interpersonal skills
Ability to overcome prospect objections
Strong computer aptitude with understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office products. (Candidate must have the ability to learn new systems)
Customer service and team orientation
Ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail
Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
