The Associate Director is responsible for the oversight of a residential environment conducive to the academic success and personal development of residential students. The Associate Director will oversee the administrative responsibilities of the Residence Education department, ensuring an efficient and organized operation. This includes but is not limited to day-to-day operations for the residential communities, assessment efforts, financial management, and more.
Job Responsibility:
Staff Supervision/Development: Directly responsible for three Assistant Directors and an Administrative Assistant. Additionally, the Associate Director indirectly supervises ten professional Resident Directors, nine graduate students, and 140 student staff
Residence Education Administration: Responsible for implementing effective management practices in handling the day-to-day operations of Residence Education
Student Learning & Curriculum Development: Responsible for establishing a learning focused environment conducive to the academic success and personal growth of residents
Department, Division, University and Professional Engagement: Serves as the chair of departmental committees and will represent the department at divisional and university wide events and initiatives
Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Serve as a member of the third tier on call crisis response team, responding to and managing various crisis situations, including follow up with students and staff
Requirements:
Master's Degree
Five (5) or more years of related work experience
Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
A strong desire to work directly with mid-level and new professionals, graduate students, student staff, and college students
Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
Demonstrated skills in the following areas: leadership, supervision, crisis intervention, group dynamics, flexibility, professionalism, and programming in a residence hall setting
Nice to have:
Master's Degree in Student Development, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field
Seven (7) or more years of related work experience
