Job Description

Northeastern University seeks a thoughtful, strategic, and entrepreneurial development professional to serve as an Associate Director of Major Gifts (ADMG). This role operates as a frontline fundraiser representing the University across a designated geographic region, cultivating and stewarding relationships with alumni, parents, and friends to advance philanthropic support through the One Northeastern fundraising model. The ADMG will play a key role in expanding the University's fundraising capacity by managing a portfolio of prospects with the capacity to make major gifts, aligning donor interests with priorities across colleges, interdisciplinary initiatives, and university-wide needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a regional portfolio of approximately 125 alumni, parent, and friend prospects and donors, with a focus on securing major gifts of $100K+
  • Develop and execute individualized strategies for discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Complete a minimum of 120+ prospect visits annually, maintaining a regular travel schedule within assigned geographic territories
  • Represent Northeastern University broadly, aligning donor interests with opportunities across colleges, interdisciplinary initiatives, and university priorities
  • Collaborate with central, regional, and unit-based colleagues to advance prospect strategies, participate in team-based fundraising efforts, and share performance credit on joint outcomes
  • Develop and share deeper content knowledge in a designated focus area (e.g., a college or initiative) to support colleagues and enhance donor engagement
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication on prospect activity and strategy across Advancement partners
