The Associate Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment works in a high-energy, prestigious graduate business school, the UC San Diego Rady School of Management. The Rady School of Management provides business education through its degree programming (PhD and four Masters) undergraduate education, and executive business programs. The Rady School of Management advances business by generating meaningful research and educating principled, innovative leaders. The staff who work at the Rady School have created a highly participatory, high energy, upbeat environment where providing excellent customer service to our students, faculty and fellow staff is a priority.
Job Responsibility:
Recruits and reviews candidates for the Rady School of Management's graduate business programs
Responsible for outreach
recruitment
tracking/monitoring outreach efforts towards prospective applicants, applicants, and admitted applicants
application file review
application assessment and admissions decision-making recommendations
admitted student yield
and recruitment event planning and implementation---locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
Uses data to identify and recruit potential applicants
Provides information on a variety of admissions-related issues to the general public including prospective applicants, applicants, admitted students, employers, community-based organizations, faculty and campus colleagues
Fosters and maintains good working relationships with UCSD colleagues, the public, organizations involved in outreach recruitment, as well as other UC business schools, representatives from other universities, and UC San Diego campus graduate advisors and administrators
Independently reviews and/or evaluates, domestic and international applications for admission into Rady School of Management graduate programs
Works as a team with other Graduate Admission professionals, interacts with the Executive Directors of each graduate program
Interacts directly with prospective applicants, applicants, and admitted students in person at admissions/recruitment events, at onsite open houses, and via online interactions, while assessing the academic preparedness for graduate business school, career progression and career goals, as well as the suitability to the Rady School of Management curriculum
Requirements:
Strong experience (more than 5 years) working in Admissions/Recruitment in a graduate business school
Experience recruiting for an MBA or other graduate business program
Experience assessing and evaluating candidates based on suitability of background, educational achievements, and professional goals
Direct marketing/sales experience
Experience creating content for informational materials (traditional and online)
Experience working with a professional population comprised of senior managers and leaders
Experience independently organizing and implementing admissions/recruitment informational programs for a wide, diverse audience
Experience planning and implementing outreach events, recruitment fairs, open houses, online events
Presentation skills online and in person
Experience delivering effective and engaging professional presentations and Q & A sessions
Experience independently conducting individual admission evaluations/interviews and assessments (domestic and international)
Experience using independent judgment to make admission decisions and recommendations
Knowledge of admission-related technology including CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems
Efficiency in utilizing technology and data
Experience with recruitment yield management
Experience creating a strategic plan to reach out to engage both prospective applicants and admitted students
Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials
Experience prioritizing recruitment outreach efforts based on yield and on recruitment/admissions goals
Experience developing strategies for recruitment/outreach activities
Experience providing effective advising to students, preferably in areas of graduate education
Experience interacting with admitted and denied applicants
Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the use of diplomacy, tact, and collaboration
