As an Associate Director of STUDIO, you will be responsible for assisting the team within our motion graphics and Studio department that collaborates on the execution of all motion-related creative assets and static banners, from initial concept to final delivery. You have a precise eye for detail and are obsessed with organization and consistency across all deliverables. You have a firm understanding of the creative and technical aspects of design for both motion graphics and statics, and can provide knowledge and feedback when needed. You are an ace at managing multiple projects and competing initiatives, even under the tightest of deadlines. A collaborative spirit, you have great communication skills and feel confident to speak up when you or anyone on your team needs support. You are able to dig into the work but also stand out as a mentor and a coach. You thrive at passing on your knowledge to your team members and helping them grow. You have great communication skills and love to evangelize your thinking both internally and to the client. You can help solve challenging problems in collaboration with our team. You also help keep things running smoothly for the growing production team you will help manage on a daily basis. No job is too big, and no job is too small. Depending on what the team needs, you should always be ready to think big and solve complex problems, but also be willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and collaborate with a team of animators and graphic artists
  • Hands-on supervision of video content in large quantities for digital platforms
  • Critique and help evolve the work of our motion team
  • Heed guidance and constructive feedback from all members of the creative team
  • Maintain ownership and responsibility, including QA, throughout each project
  • Partner with Project Managers on resourcing, budgets, and timelines for a wide variety of projects
  • Ensure all final deliverables adhere to brand standards and production guidelines
  • Keep up to date on and adhere to digital best practices across different platforms

Requirements:

  • 8+ years as a visual effects and motion graphics artist, ideally producing for advertising and/or digital marketing in an agency environment
  • 5+ years agency experience in a senior role
  • 3+ years managing and mentoring junior team members
  • A portfolio showcasing production work on large campaigns
  • Exceptional knowledge in 2D animation, primarily with Adobe After Effects
  • Expert knowledge audio/video production (editing, color grading, compression)
  • An understanding of Javascript or coding (Ideally within After Effects)
  • Excellent retouching and proofreading skills
  • Excellent typography and layout skills with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Strong written and verbal skills in both individual and group settings
  • An ability to understand layout challenges of individual projects and work quickly and independently to provide creative/technical solutions to problems
  • An adoption of DEPT’s creative team’s communication and project management tools
  • Proficiency in the following programs/tools: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Sketch or Figma, Adobe Audition, Adobe Animate, Adobe Acrobat, Cinema 4D or Maya (a plus), Dropbox and Google Drive, Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, Docs), Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Asana
