Job Description

We’re looking for an Associate Design Manager to support the design and development of consumer products and packaging from concept through production. This role is ideal for a highly creative, detail-oriented designer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing trend-driven, consumer-focused products to life. You’ll partner cross-functionally with product development, merchandising, sourcing, and technical teams to deliver innovative designs with strong visual impact and production accuracy. Contract opportunity covering a leave of absence, 4-5 months. Hybrid schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday, remote Fridays. Core hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST.

Job Responsibility

  • Design and develop consumer products and packaging from initial concept through final production, ensuring strong design integrity, quality, and brand alignment
  • Create packaging layouts, graphics, and production-ready artwork, with a focus on typography, font hierarchy, color accuracy, and overall visual consistency
  • Review and approve print-ready files, including 4-color process proofs, ensuring accuracy across packaging and product deliverables
  • Develop concept sketches, mockups, color palettes, line sheets, and presentation materials to communicate design direction
  • Adapt, manipulate, and evolve existing graphic assets into new product and packaging solutions
  • Research consumer, market, and category trends to inform product design, packaging innovation, and creative strategy
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align design execution with product requirements, timelines, and production standards
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, Packaging Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in product design, packaging design, graphic design, or product development
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator (must-have), plus Photoshop and InDesign
  • Strong graphic design foundation with experience preparing production-ready files for print and packaging
  • Familiarity with print production, packaging specifications, proofs, typography, and file setup strongly preferred
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods or consumables is a plus, but not required
  • Production design experience is highly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with a highly detail-oriented approach

  • Help create and ensure the project plan, scope, and schedule are maintained by all the parties involved (e.g. consultants, engineers, architects, furniture manufacturers etc.)
