Job Description:

The Associate Design Director at AKQA will approach every brief with fresh eyes, creating distinctive and effective work while acting as a strategic and conceptual leader on projects. They will work in Tokyo to create world-class experiences for Japanese and overseas markets in a dynamic, globally-minded environment.

Job Responsibility:

Set creative direction throughout all phases of project work from discovery to launch and beyond
Act as a creative lead for one or more accounts
Develop strategy, experience concepts and establish overarching design direction
Produce compelling and highly usable experience solutions
Communicate and represent creative vision with client partners
Develop processes to inspire, innovate, and harness new ways of thinking
Inspire and lead by example
Train, mentor, and manage junior to mid-level creatives and designers
Manage and guide junior to mid-level creatives’ careers
Creatively participate in new business pitches
Guide and be hands on with industry design tools

Requirements:

A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the creative industry
Native or fluent Japanese reading and speaking ability is essential
Portfolio showcasing comprehensive understanding of creative disciplines
Demonstrated creative success in leading collaborative cross disciplinary teams
Solid understanding of the marketing industry
Experience in creating digital platforms and products from brief to delivery
Experience in collaboration with UX and development teams
Strong working knowledge of user interface, application, mobile and responsive design
Exceptional communication skills
Superb professionalism and mature presence
Thought leadership and ability to contribute to strategic development
