Job Description:

The Associate Claims Examiner is an entry-level position focused on building foundational skills in cargo claims management. This role involves processing claims from initiation to resolution, handling basic financial transactions, and developing an understanding of claims requirements for values up to $100,000, all under the guidance of a Claims Lead. The Associate Claims Examiner will professionally communicate with external parties and collaborate with internal teams, while also developing a basic grasp of the transportation industry and business acumen. This position is designed for individuals eager to learn and grow into a Claims Examiner role by demonstrating core competencies in claims processing, financial handling, and communication.

Job Responsibility:

  • Development and Learning: Develop a foundational understanding of the requirements for processing claims up to $100,000, with direct oversight and assistance from a Claims Lead
  • Foundational Claim Processing: Process assigned claims efficiently and accurately, from filing to resolution, while meeting time standards
  • Financial Transaction Processing: Process payments to customers and deductions from carriers
  • Foundational External Communication: Communicate professionally and diplomatically with external parties (carriers, insurance companies, customers) to provide status updates, request information, and resolve basic concerns
  • Foundational Acumen & Internal Engagement: Develop a basic understanding of the transportation industry and essential business acumen

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or 3 years of professional experience in customer service, administrative support, or the insurance industry
  • Exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Google Suite

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Serves as a resource to assist with training new associates, retraining current associates on new/updated desktops/policies and reports staff progress, deficiencies, and training needs to management
