Assists the Chief CRNA in providing administrative leadership for all staff CRNAs. Staff CRNAs provide anesthesia services to patients of all ages at Strong Memorial Hospital under the medical direction of members of the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology of the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Job Responsibility:
Assists the Chief CRNA in providing administrative leadership for all staff CRNAs
Assists with orienting new CRNAs to the department
completes initial competency review
Brings CRNA concerns to the attention of Chief Clinical Coordinator and Chief CRNA and serves as sounding board when problems arise
Serve as Crew Chief “CC” to be a point person for the CRNAs and assist with day-to-day OR choreography
Along with other members of CRNA leadership, serves as coach and advisor to all CRNAs and SRNAs as well as nurses interested in continuing their professional career as a future CRNA
Creates partnership with staff CRNA mentors to new hire CRNAs
Acts as a resource to new hire CRNAs and their mentors
Provides Clinical Coordinators with staff feedback regarding assignments, equitability, and workflows
Reviews the clinical assignments for the following day with the Clinical Coordinator to offer suggestions and communicate changes for quality patient care and employee satisfaction
Assists with scheduling CRNA assignments each day during the new hire orientation period and ensuring comfort level with ectopic sites prior to orientation concluding
Communicates updates, changes, and issues to the CRNA group as needed or delegated by Chief CRNA
Contributes and updates both CRNA Orientation Manual and Ambulatory CRNA Orientation Manual when necessary
Designates a mailbox for new staff CRNAs in the CRNA lounge and display a brief bio and picture of new staff CRNAs in a shadowbox outside of the CRNA lounge
Assists with onboarding new locums CRNAs. I.e., giving OR tours and ensuring badge, pyxis access, and e-Record are in working order
Acts as a POCT Superuser and ensure all hands-on POCT training is up to date for all CRNA staff and locums
Assigns appropriate POCT MyPath courses to all CRNAs as needed
Actively participates in departmental and hospital committees as required or delegated by Chief CRNA
Performs written annual reviews for CRNAs as delegated by the Chief
Assists in providing agenda items and leading regular meetings with the CRNA group
Moderates CRNA Longevity Working Group. Presents ideas and recommendations to the group
Requirements:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing
Graduate of a school of nurse anesthesia, accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (Dept. of H.E.W. authorized accrediting agent)
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Current A.A.N.A. membership, active practicing category
CRNA - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist upon hire
