Job Description

The Associate Broker works directly with the Broker Team Leader to support the renewal of cyber, management, and professional liability insurance policies. This role is designed for a self-motivated individual eager to build a foundational understanding of the wholesale brokerage business through active, on-the-job learning. As the Associate Broker demonstrates the ability to independently manage their own desk, they will take on increased responsibility in analyzing market research and developing creative strategies to secure new and renewal business. This position offers a clear path for professional growth with the potential to advance into a Broker role.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the full renewal cycle for an assigned book of Cyber, Management, and Professional Liability business, including soliciting submission updates and negotiating terms with carriers
  • Build and solidify relationships with retail broker clients, serving as a primary point of contact for day-to-day inquiries and resolving policy or underwriting issues
  • Analyze market trends and carrier appetites to design creative insurance solutions for current and prospective clients
  • Assist the Broker Team Leader in identifying new business opportunities by researching market sectors and engaging retail brokers via phone and email
  • Monitor internal workflows and proactively suggest new methods to improve the efficiency of the renewal and placement process
  • Maintain accurate file documentation and service the designated book of business as it relates to marketing, administration, and compliance
  • Meet all requirements for licensing as directed by the branch and strictly adhere to Quality Control guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Working towards or holds valid P&C license
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an insurance or accounting related discipline (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar position preferred
  • recent graduates with a degree in Risk Management will also be considered

  • Review, analyze, and qualify risks submitted by Producers, evaluate submissions for premium and terms, and issue indications, quotes, and binders, utilizing inspection companies when necessary
  • Develop and maintain carrier and brokerage relationships to place specific risks and grow a book of business
  • Market and meet with retail agency customers to develop and cultivate relationships, fostering new business opportunities
  • Understand company facilities and broker risks when needed to successfully negotiate placements, managing quote-to-bind activities and production results
  • Service existing business, generate new business, and prioritize tasks to effectively manage workload
  • Train and guide processors and assistants, reviewing submissions for accuracy and completeness, and developing their brokering skills while reducing clerical workload
