A boutique law firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney to support construction and commercial litigation matters on a fully remote, contract basis while they continue their direct hire search for a local candidate who can commit to their onsite requirements. As an Associate with this firm, you will be involved in matters across the full litigation lifecycle, including law and motion, discovery management, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.
Job Responsibility:
Handle matters through the full litigation lifecycle, including all relevant legal procedures and documentation
Independently draft substantive pleadings, motions, and briefs, including dispositive motions
Prepare depositions, including drafting outlines and witness preparation
Manage written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, RFAs, and document demands
Review and manage documents to support case development and litigation strategy
Participate in mediations and settlement preparation
Conduct legal research to support case development and motion practice
Assist with trial preparation, including evidence organization and coordination with legal teams
Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment throughout all matters
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing civil litigation as an attorney
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Active California Bar admission, in good standing
Substantial hands-on experience with discovery, motion practice, and deposition preparation
Experience in a defense-side civil litigation practice strongly preferred
Construction or commercial litigation experience is a plus, but not required
Ability to manage discrete assignments independently with limited supervision
Comfortable working in a billable, deadline-driven law firm environment with consistent weekly productivity
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff
High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
