The firm practices labor & employment law and personal injury litigation and takes cases to be adjudicated in public agency administrative hearings, trial courts, and arbitration. The variety of casework includes representing law enforcement personnel (through their unions) in workplace investigations and in disciplinary appeals before administrative boards, representing victims in prosecuting sexual harassment claims and other torts, professional licensing defense, and a variety matters that arise in private sector employment law (executive compensation and severance negotiations, wrongful terminations, and discrimination cases). The annual billable hour target is 1,700 hours (unless part-time employment is preferred.)
Job Responsibility:
Representing law enforcement personnel in workplace investigations and in disciplinary appeals before administrative boards
Representing victims in prosecuting sexual harassment claims and other torts
Professional licensing defense
Handling matters in private sector employment law (executive compensation and severance negotiations, wrongful terminations, and discrimination cases)
Requirements:
2+ years of civil litigation practice experience, ideally in labor & employment law
Other target areas of previous practice experience include public entity administrative law, criminal law, and plaintiff-side torts
Strong written and oral advocacy skills
Able and willing to travel for occasional hearings and representing clients during internal investigations throughout Northern California
J.D. degree and member in good standing of State Bar of California
Candidates with excellent interpersonal skills, reliable and good work ethic, and fun sense of humor are definitely encouraged to apply
Nice to have:
Knowledge of administrative law and California labor law
Experience in conducting legal research and drafting pleadings for civil court filings
Good experience in conducting workplace investigations and/or depositions
