This L& E Associate position is about half defense litigation work and half advice & counsel practice. It’s a fantastic opportunity for an experienced employment litigator to manage with autonomy the case load and relationships with human resources managers and executives at the firm’s clients in various industries, life sciences & biotech, AI software and tech startups, small and mid-sized retail and B2B enterprises, and nonprofits.
Job Responsibility:
Defense of single plaintiff, class action, and PAGA litigation concerning labor & employment claims in state and Federal courts
Represent clients in administrative proceedings (e.g., EEOC, DFEH) as well as in arbitration, mediation, and settlement conferences
Conduct workplace investigations
Prepare employee handbooks and management training
Significant amount of advice & counsel and HR compliance work
Requirements:
2++ years of employment litigation practice, including handling wage & hour lawsuits
Experience conducting and defending depositions and arguing dispositive motions
Active and in good standing with State Bar of California
Strong work ethic & good sense of humor
Demeanor to thrive in a high-paced environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, juggling priorities, and adhering to strict deadlines
First-rate academic credentials and references
Must possess analytical, legal research and writing skills
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Licensed attorney with 3+ years of employment litigation experience
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
Demonstrated knowledge of discrimination, EEOC claims
Experience with drafting motions
Proficiency in employment discrimination law
Good familiarity with discovery
Adeptness in defense litigation
Comprehensive knowledge of employer-side employment law
