As part of DAC Beachcroft's ongoing expansion of the firm's global offering to clients across insurance, we are looking to recruit an Associate Attorney to join our newly opened Los Angelas office. Our team based in the Los Angelas provides advice to domestic and global Insurers and their Insureds across a wide spectrum of classes of insurance. We are looking to recruit ideally a qualified attorney to join the team to focus on insurance litigation and help continue our drive to become the firm of choice to the global insurance sector. The right candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of cases, client contacts and working closely with senior attorneys – whilst working in a positive and collaborative environment that provides a large degree of autonomy and a strong work/life balance. This is a full-time, permanent role to be based in our Los Angelas office, which will see the successful applicant working with our wider US team comprising eight partners and more than 40 lawyers and support professionals. We advise insurers on complex, high‑value matters, combining deep market knowledge with a pragmatic, client‑focused approach. Job Responsibility:
Managing caseload and/or supporting Partners and colleagues on insurance litigation matters across the full spectrum of coverage and defence work
Conducting depositions
Drafting and reviewing correspondence, reports and litigation documents
Maintaining caseload in an organized manner and in accordance with client quality and service level agreements
Developing an understanding of the client's, and our wider business, and how the two fit together
Demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Handling of case relevant motion practice
Attendance at court proceedings
Requirements:
Californian qualified attorney (ideally 2 to 3 years) with pre-litigation and litigation work experience and strong deposition capabilities
The ability to run your own caseload and work in an autonomous fashion
Strong academic record
Capable of analysing and applying legal principles to a complex factual scenario, with a view to achieving a commercial resolution for the client
Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues
The ability to think and act quickly and under pressure for clients who find themselves in crisis
Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team
