Atelier Ten is hiring a Associate / Associate Director Mechanical Engineer for London office. We’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll need to balance multiple deadlines, work well independently, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the team. You’ll contribute specialist expertise to support other teams. You’ll ensure high-quality, timely project delivery in line with industry benchmarks and internal standards, serving as a key liaison between Atelier Ten and our clients and collaborators. You’ll also mentor and coordinate junior staff, providing clear frameworks, setting standards, and ensuring cohesive delivery across the team.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and support mechanical design development through RIBA Stages 2, 3, and 4, ensuring alignment with client requirements and adherence to industry standards
Coordinate mechanical systems design with electrical, plumbing, and structural disciplines to deliver fully integrated MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) solutions
Manage and resolve design coordination issues by collaborating effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors
Attend and lead external meetings with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure smooth communication and project delivery
Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to junior engineers and other project team members
Ensure all design documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with project timelines and deliverables
Support clash detection and resolution processes during design coordination phases to prevent conflicts and ensure seamless integration
Adapt quickly to changing project priorities and manage workloads efficiently across multiple concurrent project
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership
8 years + of experience in mechanical design engineering within building services or similar sectors
Experience with Stage 3 & 4 design or equivalent detailed design phases
Solid understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, hydronic systems, ventilation, and other mechanical building services
Proven experience in MEP or multidisciplinary coordination, including clash detection and BIM processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and manage external stakeholder meetings
Skilled in managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines with flexibility and professionalism
Proficient in design software such as Revit MEP and AutoCAD, as well as Microsoft Office applications
Experienced in using NBS for specification writing and updates
