Job Description
Background: Assistant Professor: An Assistant Professor has developed his/her own research and teaching interests, and is becoming known nationally for his/her work. They will publish regularly in peer-reviewed international journals or other appropriate outlets, and are likely to have edited collections of work or meeting proceedings. They will also have chaired sessions at, or have been part of, the organising committees of academic conferences or relevant disciplinary meetings. They should be beginning to show Academic Leadership in their teaching and/or their research speciality and be involved in administrative duties at least at Department/School level. The incumbent will also be required to dedicate 40% of his/her time to the provision of clinical services to the Fiji MOHMS. Associate Professor: An Associate Professor will be well known in their field, they will have a national profile and will likely collaborate internationally. They are likely to have chaired sessions at international conferences and be invited to give talks at academic meetings in Fiji and overseas. They will have a significant research/scholarship record, some of which will be in high profile international journals, or other appropriate outlets, in their field. The Associate Professor will show significant academic leadership. They will link their research to their teaching and develop new papers and courses inspired by their research expertise. They must have clear evidence of good teaching performance. The incumbent will also be required to dedicate 40% of his/her time to the provision of clinical services to the Fiji MOHMS.

Requirements
Assistant Professor: Specialist /Clinician: Clinical Masters or Fellowship in the relevant field with specialist registration
Demonstrated evidence in learning and teaching and the potential to become an effective teacher
Industrial/clinical experience in the area of expertise
Demonstrated evidence of undertaking consultancies in your area of expertise
Associate Professor: Master's with specialist registration with 7 or more years of post-registration working experience
Demonstrated evidence of good teaching performance, university service, community service and leadership
Demonstrated evidence of undertaking consultancies in the area of expertise
Evidence of industrial or clinical experience and contribution in your area of expertise
Demonstration of learning and teaching scholarship related to the discipline
The development and contribution of knowledge to the discipline, or the teaching of the discipline
Demonstrate evidence of undertaking consultancies in your area of expertise
Clear evidence of Master's/PhD supervision and examination
Record of regional and/or international contributions
Good and clean records of leadership

Assistant Professor Desirable: Administrative duties
Providing a continuing high level of personal commitment to, and achievement in, a particular scholarly area and as a result, generating high level research outcomes
Developing a record of publication in top ranked and other research and scholarly journals
Participating in research projects and research teams (where appropriate)
Succeeding in applications for research funding, whether individually or as part of a team
Supervising the program of study for honours students and postgraduate students undertaking research projects
Participating in development opportunities to improve research and supervision skills
Contributing to developing, mentoring, and providing feedback to junior researchers
