Job Description:

The town of Falmouth is seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated professional to join the Building Division of our Community Development Department as a full-time Assistant Zoning Compliance Agent. This position plays a key role in protecting the community’s safety, accessibility, and quality of life by ensuring compliance with local zoning bylaws, wetlands ordinances, historic regulations, and other applicable requirements. This is a full-time, benefited position that works at the Falmouth Town Hall and in the field 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work required on an overtime basis.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensuring compliance with local zoning bylaws, wetlands ordinances, historic regulations, and other applicable requirements
  • protecting the community’s safety, accessibility, and quality of life

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four years of increasingly responsible experience in a regulatory or enforcement field
  • any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
  • valid Massachusetts driver’s license

Nice to have:

  • Associate degree in planning or a related field and/or experience as a zoning or regulatory board member
  • working knowledge of building permit applications, Zoning Board of Appeals applications, Planning Board decisions, and historic review processes
