Job Description:

The town of Duxbury seeks full-time Assistant Water and Sewer Superintendent to assist with all functions of the Water and Sewer system to provide a reliable water supply for residential and commercial uses. Provides for the transport and treatment of wastewater. Assists in the planning, organizing, and operations and activities of the Water and Sewer division and related distribution, collection, storage, and treatment systems in conformance with applicable federal and state mandates and regulations. Serve as the primary operator for wastewater.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with all functions of the Water and Sewer system to provide a reliable water supply for residential and commercial uses
  • Provides for the transport and treatment of wastewater
  • Assists in the planning, organizing, and operations and activities of the Water and Sewer division and related distribution, collection, storage, and treatment systems in conformance with applicable federal and state mandates and regulations

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a four-year college with a bachelor’s degree in construction, business, engineering, public administration or some related field with seven to ten years related work experience five of which should have been in a supervisory position
  • or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform and essential functions of the job
  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)
  • Desired Licenses (or ability to obtain within 1 year): Grade 4-M Wastewater license, Drinking Water Supply Facilities Grade 2T Full Operator, Drinking Water Supply Facilities Grade 3D Full Operator, DEP Certified Cross Connection Tester/Surveyor
  • maintains license as Operator of Drinking Water Supply Facilities

  • Supervise and inspect maintenance, repair and installation work to be completed in the Jersey City water system
  • Perform documented safety inspections of system maintenance crews and inspectors during course of daily field inspections
  • Respond to field complaints or problems received from customers (residential, commercial and client) by conducting physical site inspections
  • Investigate site for planned projects to determine necessary safety precautions, special tools and equipment, in addition to other special project requirements
  • Participate in developing and implementing the department’s operational scheduling and standard operating procedures
  • In addition to main responsibilities, it provides backup to other supervisors as directed by the Manager or Assistant Manager
