Job Description:

Alaska Commercial Company (ACC) is hiring an Assistant Manager for the Anchorage Distribution Center (ADC). This role assists the ADC Manager with staff, customer, and distribution operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, shipping, and inventory control. The position emphasizes efficiency, productivity, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with warehouse personnel to ensure all packing, labeling, and shipping activities are completed in full compliance with applicable regulations and company standards
  • Conduct regular inspections of warehouse facilities and equipment to assess physical condition and safety
  • Supervise and actively support ADC personnel in the daily movement of merchandise into and out of the warehouse
  • Coordinate, conduct, and document required warehouse safety training
  • Communicate regularly with the ADC Manager regarding productivity metrics, safety observations, and operational concerns
  • Assume full ADC Manager responsibilities as needed, including during absences or periods of increased workload

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a two-year college degree or two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions – dealing with standardized situations with occasional or no variables
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to operate computer systems such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, inventory software and order processing systems
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, standard safety equipment, and various office equipment
