We’re seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Video Editor to support a fast-paced creative production and editorial team. This is a 9-month contract with potential for conversion, offering a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in San Francisco). This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in post-production workflows who thrives in a collaborative, high-volume environment.
Job Responsibility:
Ingest, transcode, log, and organize incoming media (video, audio, graphics) within Avid and media management systems
Sync audio and video, maintain project organization, and ensure consistent file naming and structure
Pull selects and assist with rough assemblies of sound bites and B-roll
Prepare and export content in multiple formats for various deliverables
Support finishing workflows, including conform prep, audio splits, textless versions, and localization needs
Conduct quality control on final exports to ensure accuracy and technical standards
Assist with asset research, logging, transcriptions, and project archiving
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in video production and editorial environments
Strong hands-on experience with Avid (minimum 3+ years required) and post-production workflows
Solid understanding of media formats, codecs, frame rates, and file management
Experience supporting end-to-end post workflows (offline to online, conform, color and mix prep)
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
Proven experience working within an editorial team (not solely freelance or independent work)
Nice to have:
Experience with DaVinci Resolve, color correction, or motion graphics
Familiarity with high-volume, multi-format production environments
