Job Description:

Become part of Barclays Impairment reporting as an Assistant Vice President - Impairment Models. As part of this role, the candidate will be required to embed a control functionality by building and leading the development of the output for the team, where you’ll help craft innovative solutions that influence. The purpose of this role is to manage a team responsible for the Governance and Control aspects of the Impairments FTC. This is the front end of the Group Impairment FTC team where the output is most visible and therefore a transparent, detailed and well-understood approach to Governance and Control is essential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Identification of potential impairment triggers, analysis of relevant financial and non-financial information to assess the potential for impairment of financial assets, and application of quantitative and qualitative impairment tests to determine whether an asset is considered impaired
  • Assessment of the impairment loss for an asset by identification of the right valuation method, assessment of its fair value, and documentation of the process
  • Calculation of the impairment provision to reflect the impairment loss and prepare clear and accurate impairment disclosures for financial statements
  • Management of the performance of impaired assets and reassessment of their impairment status on a regular basis

Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in credit risk modelling and impairment frameworks (IFRS9/CECL)
  • Proven experience in statistics, risk models, and advanced analytics
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards
  • Ability to manage stakeholders, communicate complex concepts clearly, and lead projects end-to-end
  • Proficiency in tools like Python, or R, and familiarity with large datasets

  • Knowledge of regulatory landscape and IFRS9
