Job Description:

The Valuation Control function is responsible for ensuring that traded products are completely and accurately recorded in HSBC’s books and records in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Valuation Controls ensure appropriate valuation of the traded products portfolio, an understanding of key Profit & Loss drivers, assessment of execution margins, and assist in detecting inappropriate trading activity.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing financial accounting, control and analytical support to the Markets business
  • Performing front-to-back reconciliations, inter-system reconciliations, and system delivery
  • Reviewing and investigating daily exception reports
  • Providing independent review, monitoring and challenge across benchmark submissions
  • Ensuring integrity of the trade information and controls over book processes
  • Conducting balance sheet substantiation and reconciliation of balances
  • Reviewing operational effectiveness of Fair and Prudent Valuation Adjustments control framework
  • Preparing periodic reports required for group and regional reporting
  • Coordinating with internal and external auditors during regular audits
  • Monitoring and reporting of Key Risk and Key Process Indicators (KRIs and KPIs)
  • Participating in strategic change initiatives and identifying process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Background in financial, economic, accounting or mathematical subjects
  • Product Control experience (min 3 years), preferably in FX, Rates or Equities
  • Very good accounting and valuation knowledge
  • Very good written English and oral communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, quantitative skills, MS Access or VBA experience, or involvement in Robotics Process Automation (RPA) project initiatives is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ambitious, driven and enthusiastic
  • Professional qualification such as CPA, CFA and FRM will be an added advantage
  • Willing to work in shifts schedules, change on weekly statutory rest day and weekly contractual rest day from time to time, depending upon operational and/or business requirements
  • Flexible to work at such premises of the Company.

Nice to have:

  • MS Access or VBA experience
  • involvement in Robotics Process Automation (RPA) project initiatives
  • Professional qualification such as CPA, CFA and FRM.
